Background Check - A Double-Edged Sword

A double-edged sword has two sharp edges, and is very common during the Tokugawa Shogunate and Meiji Restoration in Japan. Several samurai philosophers had mentioned that a sword is used either to protect people, or to cut short human lives. Like a sword, background checks can do good, or spread harm. I just wish that you do background search for good.

A lot of people rely on background checks for employment purposes. Background searches present all of your records like statement of assets and liabilities, social security number, financial documents previous employment records and academic transcripts. Because of this, background check reports are helpful in applicant evaluation.

Background search reports are also very important when purchasing firearms or chemicals, in accordance to the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act of 1993. In this bill, you cannot buy guns and dangerous chemicals, unless you underwent a background check. This is to make sure that these dangerous items will fall on responsible hands.

People search is probably, the best reason why a lot of people are doing background checks. If you just cannot find your best friend or your relative, doing a background search on him might do the job. It is because that they can offer you a person's phone number history, email address and mailing address history. At least, you have been given with the persons contacts.

However, those people with bad intentions also do a background check to violate your privacy. In some cases, there is information, which you must keep to yourself. But because background checks can look over private documents, these might be used against you.

Others even do background checks to steal one's identity. This is true, especially if one person, whom you do not know, knows your social security number or SSN. Even in the employment setting, background checks might be used in discriminating one person. Let us say that you graduated in Harvard University, and your main opponent for that job just graduated in some X College, with several failing marks. But because you are black, you were not accepted. Now, where is the social justice in there?

Now, I remind you that when you do background checks, you must use them with wise, yet pure intentions.
